I'm so excited to have finally updated my website! This year has been one of transition, and I have spent the last couple of months trying to figure out where I wanted to go with my professional life now that my shop and studio are no more.
Here is what I do know: I have a good grasp of the Web and social media, I am a prolific artist with a drive to create, and I am a good teacher. Those are my strengths.
My weaknesses? My most stubborn weakness, is my inability to stay focused on one medium for long periods of time. The last 25 years (Holy Crap! Has it been that long???) working in glass is something of an anomaly for me. I attribute it to the fact that there is always SO much more to learn, and my not-so-latent pyromania tendencies. But I have MANY, MANY affairs happening on the side, with other artistic pursuits. The latest of which is portrait painting. Hot and heavy art affairs are still going strong with illustration, fabric design, sewing, needlework, encaustic painting, polymer clay, Precious metal clay, book binding, felting, my 3D Laser Printer, ... well, you can see where I'm going here. My glass marriage is an open one; We have an understanding.
So here's the thing... what do I do with all that? Well, I decided to open up the studio virtually, and start teaching and sharing. Kind of like an awkward grey-haired Rachel Ray of the art and contemporary craft world. Too big of a goal? Yeah, probably, but WTF... we all gotta have a goal.
I'm making it all up as I go along, so expect some bumps as I try and get off the ground. But I'd love if you'd tag along for the ride. So, if you've made it this far, thank you!
Tomorrow, to kick off this endeavor on the right foot, I will be filming a demo from the torch for Torch Tuesdays (Yeah... I'm going to call it that .... I'm such a geek) , and I'll post it up on my new YouTube channel by the end of the day. Keep your eye on my Instagram for updates, and a link!
Phew! That's it for now,
